PHYTOTERAPHY

Finding healing powers in plants is an ancient idea. People in all continents have long used hundreds, if not thousands, of indigenous plants for treatment of various ailments dating back to prehistory. There is evidence that Neanderthals living 60,000 years ago in present-day Iraq used plants for medicinal purposes (found at a burial site at Shanidar Cave, Iraq, in which a Neanderthal man was uncovered in 1960. He had been buried with eight species of plants) [citation needed] These plants are still widely used in ethnomedicine around the world.
The first generally accepted use of plants as healing agents were depicted in the cave paintings discovered in the Lascaux caves in France, which have been Radiocarbon dated to between 13,000 - 25,000 BCE.
Over time and with trial and error, a small base of knowledge was acquired within early tribal communities. As this knowledge base expanded over the generations, tribal culture developed into specialized areas. These 'specialized jobs' became what are now known as healers or Shaman. Plants have an almost limitless ability to synthesize aromatic substances, most of which are phenols or their oxygen-substituted derivatives such as tannins. Most are secondary metabolites, of which at least 12,000 have been isolated, a number estimated to be less than 10% of the total. In many cases, these substances (esp. alkaloids) serve as plant defense mechanisms against predation by microorganisms, insects, and herbivores. Many of the herbs and spices used by humans to season food yield useful medicinal compounds.
The use of and search for drugs and dietary supplements derived from plants have accelerated in recent years. Pharmacologists, microbiologists, botanists, and natural-products chemists are combing the Earth for phytochemicals and leads that could be developed for treatment of various diseases. In fact, many modern drugs have been derived from plants.

ACUPUNCTUR

Acupuncture (from Lat. acus, "needle" (noun), and pungere, "prick" (verb)) or in Standard Mandarin, zhen jiu (??) is a technique of inserting and manipulating needles into "acupuncture points" on the body. According to acupunctural teachings this will restore health and well-being, and is particularly good at treating pain. The definition and characterization of these points is standardized by the World Health Organization [1]. Acupuncture is thought to have originated in China and is most commonly associated with Traditional Chinese medicine. Other types of acupuncture (Japanese, Korean, and classical Chinese acupuncture) are practiced and taught throughout the world.
Whether acupuncture is efficacious or a placebo is subject to scientific research. Scientists have conducted reviews of existing clinical trials according to the protocols of evidence-based medicine; some have found efficacy for headache, low back pain and nausea, but for most conditions have concluded that there is insufficient evidence to determine whether or not acupuncture is effective. The World Health Organisation (WHO), the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) of the National Institute of Health (NIH), the American Medical Association (AMA) and various government reports have also studied and commented on the efficacy of acupuncture. There is general agreement that acupuncture is safe when administered by well-trained practitioners, and that further research is warranted.

EAV ACUPUNCTURE

Electroacupuncture is a form of acupuncture in which acupuncture needles are attached to a device that generates continuous electric pulses, generating a small electric current that flows between pairs of needles. According to some acupuncturists, this practice augments the use of regular acupuncture, can restore health and well-being, and is particularly good for treating pain. For the most part, there is insufficient scientific evidence regarding the safety or efficacy of electroacupuncture, although there is evidence for its efficacy in treating post-chemotherapy vomiting.

AURICULOTHERAPY

Auriculo Therapy is the stimulation of the external ear for the diagnoses and treatment of health conditions including but not limited to weight loss. All of this is under Meridian therapy. Meridian therapy is the accepted name employed by those who practice the principle of Acupuncture without the use of a penetrating needle. Acupuncture is a principle, not a technique. Therefore, there are many ways to stimulate an Acupoint other than a needle. Many practitioners use electronic stimulation, laser beam or pressure massage to treat an Acupoint. The principle of Acupuncture does not change; only the technique.

The recognition that Acupuncture has received in recent years concerning itís success with addiction control is well documented, especially the specialized field of Auriculo Therapy (ear acupuncture). It has been shown that Auriculo weight-loss. This procedure in conjunction with proper eating habits has proven extremely safe and effective in losing weight.

OSTEOPATHY

Osteopathy is an alternative medicine and a theory of disease and method of cure founded on the assumption that deformation of some part of the skeleton and consequent interference with the adjacent nerves and blood-vessels are the cause of most diseases. (Oxford English Dictionary). Osteopaths apply the philosophy of treating the whole person (holistic approach) to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, disease and injury using manual and physical therapies (OMM).

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a manual therapy which addresses distortions in the structures of the spine, skull, sacrum and associated connective tissue. It is most often employed by physical therapists and chiropractors to treat pain, stress, and limitations of movement.

Cranoisacral Therapy combines ancient healing arts with traditional cranial osteopathy. You lie on a massage table in your own clothes; you feel the warm, healing energy from the therapist's hands as you let go of long-standing tension in your neck, shoulders, arms, torso, legs, feet, and the delicate areas of your face, cranium and spine.

LASER TERAPHY

Laser therapy is the use of a laser beam to treat an injury to a soft tissue such as a ligament, tendon or muscle. A low intensity laser beam reduces pain, inflammation and swelling, and promotes healing of the damaged tissue. It works by increasing the flow of blood and lymph through tissue, and by reducing the production of prostaglandin, which is a chemical released in response to an injury that causes pain and inflammation. A laser produces a concentrated beam of radiation which is focused onto the area of damaged tissue from a hand-held treatment probe.

Laser therapy speeds up recovery from a recent injury to a ligament, tendon or muscle. It reduces pain and swelling and promotes healing. It can also be used to treat an old injury in one of these structures. Injury to a muscle leaves behind residual scar tissue which causes the muscle to shorten and work less efficiently. Laser can help break down this scar tissue, allowing exercises to be done to stretch the muscle to it's normal length and thereby reducing the risk of further strain and tear.

MAGNETO TERAPHY

Healing methods based on effecting of the magnetic field on organism are known all over the world. Lately they are being more widely used both in clinical practices and in our homes. The growing importance of magnetotherapy is closely connected to the problems of devastation of our natural environment and increased appearance of civilization diseases.

The magnetotherapy is a nonivasive physiatric method and a gentle and natural way of treatment. The action of a pulsative magnetic field favourably affects tissues of the human body and increases permeability of cell membranes which leads to supressing and often to absolute elimination of medical problems.

IRIDOLOJI

IRIDOLOGY is the study of the irides of the eye, that is, the exposed nerve endings, which make up the coloured part of the eye, all of which are connected to the brain. On a parallel with Reflexology, where the practitioner can FEEL the abnormalities of the Reflex nerve endings, a trained Iridologist, can actually see a veritable Ordinance Survey map of the REFLEX NERVE ENDINGS EXPOSING genetic inheritance, congestive and irritative zones and their various inter-reactions, within the bodily systems. In the hands of those who are well versed in the Pathology of the Pathways of Disease, as well as Anatomy and Physiology, this provides a veritable microchip of information.

Iridology complements all therapeutic sciences because it provides the vital information needed in order to establish the root cause of ailments, thus revealing the appropriate treatments required. Hippocrates and Philostratus used Iridology. lridology was taught at the Medical School of Salerno and even the Chaldeans of Babylonia, in 1000 BC left records of Iride markings, with the relevant Anatomical reflexes painted onto stone slabs.

REFLEXSOLOJI
Reflexology (sometimes called zone therapy) is a therapy in which the nerve endings primarily in the feet are stimulated by specific massage techniques to effect changes in another part of the body and thereby create health and help overcome disease.

Although there is scriptural evidence to suggest that reflexology was being practised as far back as ancient Egypt, the science of reflexology used today was founded by Dr William Fitzgerald, an American ear nose and throat surgeon. He noticed that pressure on specific areas of the body produced a anaesthetising effect on a related area. Developing his theory, he divided the body into ten equal zones which ended in the feet and hands.

In the 1930's a massage therapist called Eunice Ingham refined Dr Fitzgerald's zones and developed what is now known as 'reflexology'. She observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrored congestion or tension in a related part of the body. Therefore, treating the areas of the feet could have a relaxing and healing effect on different organs and tissues inside the body.

REIKI CHAKRA TERAPHY

Chakras are used in reiki to allow focus and direct universal energy to the healer. The purpose is to absorb cosmic energy and distribute it evenly. (Energy transformers).
Clearing the chakras with Reiki is a safe way to start the healing process. As energy rises, life progresses from earthly to spiritual, a step in human growth.

However, done without proper supervision and guidance of your own readiness, a surge of too much energy can be harmful (disorientation, depravity, physical pain, mental breakdown).

MASSAGE TERAPHY

Massage supports any health condition that would benefit from greater blood circulation and the release of tension.

Some psychological benefits also occur, helping to harmonize and rebalance the nervous and hormonal system.  Massage can be helpful for treating:

Acute and Chronic Inflammation
Acute and Chronic Pain
Anxiety
Arthritis
Cancer
Chronic Lymphedema
Depression
Fibrositis Syndrome
HIV/AIDS
Increasing Circulation
Insomnia
Menstrual Cramps
Muscle Spasms
Nausea
Psychoemtional Stress
Soft Tissue Dysfunction

HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathic remedies (also called homeopathics) are a system of medicine based on three principles:

  • Like cures like
For example, if the symptoms of your cold are similar to poisoning by mercury, then mercury would be your homeopathic remedy.
  • Minimal Dose
The remedy is taken in an extremely dilute form; normally one part of the remedy to around 1,000,000,000,000 parts of water.
  • The Single Remedy
No matter how many symptoms are experienced, only one remedy is taken, and that remedy will be aimed at all those symptoms.

Similar principals forms the basis of conventional allergy treatment, where the allergic substance is given in a small dose, and in vaccines where an impotent form of the virus is given to bolster the immune system against that particular virus.
This success is fueled by several factors:

  • Homeopathy is extremely effective. When the correct remedy is taken, results can be rapid, complete and permanent.
  • Homeopathy is completely safe. Even babies and pregnant women can use Homeopathy without the danger of side effects. Homeopathic remedies can also be taken alongside other medication without producing unwanted side effects.
  • Homeopathy is natural. Homeopathic remedies are normally based on natural ingredients.
  • Homeopathy works in harmony with your immune system, unlike some conventional medicines which suppress the immune system. (For example, cough medicines suppress the cough reflex, which is your body's attempt to clear the lungs)
  • Homeopathic remedies are not addictive - once relief is felt, you should stop taking them. If no relief is felt, you are probably taking the wrong homeopathic remedy.
  • Homeopathy is holistic. It treats all the symptoms as one, which in practical terms means that it addresses the cause, not the symptoms. This often means that symptoms tackled with Homeopathy do not recur.

HIRUDOTERAPHY

AROMA TERAPHY

Aromotheraphy is using the extracted essential oil from certain plants, grasses fruits, leaves roots and trees.

Each oil has diverse purpose. Let's take a look at peppermint. This oil is antiimflammatory to treat arthritis. A docotr can prescribe this oil to be massage in the skin.

There are different ways that these oils can be taken into the body. They can be applied to the skin say like a massage, or inhaled while taking a bath.

The benefits of these oils are that they leave the body rather quickly. They also leave no toxins in the body. They oils that remain the body are passed thru the body thru the urine, feces and perspiration. It can take sometimes 6 hours for the oils to leave the body. Each oil has it own method of leaving the body. Take sandal wood which leaves thru urine, garlic thru perspiration.

ACUPRESSURE

Acupressure is an ancient healing art developed in Asia over 5,000 years ago, using the fingers to press key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. When these acupressure points are pressed, they release muscular tension and promote the circulation of blood and the body's life force energy to aid healing. Acupuncture and acupressure use the same points and meridians, but acupuncture employs needles, while acupressure uses gentle but firm pressure and integrates bodywork therapies, therapeutic touch, somatic work, healing imagery, energy psychology, and massage therapy techniques.

Benefits of Using Acupressure include relieving pain, balancing the body, and maintaining good health. Acupressure's healing touch reduces tension, increases circulation, and enables the body to relax deeply. By relieving stress, acupressure therapy strengthens resistance to disease and promotes wellness.

Lymph Drainage

Lymph Drainage Therapy is practised in various forms around the world. It is a very specific technique of manual body massage therapy that is being applied with increasing success to a number of medical conditions, the main one being lymphoedema.

Lymphoedema is a condition caused by trauma, surgical removal, radiation or impairment of lymph nodes or lymph capillaires and veins. It is an excess of body fluid called lymph that is retained in body tissue and results in swelling to limbs or other parts of the body.

Lymphoedema can lead to problems such as skin infections of the affected limb, depleted immune responses to viral and bacterical invasion and significant stress on the cardiovascular system.

NATUROPATHY

Naturopathy, or naturopathic medicine, is a system of medicine based on the healing power of nature. Naturopathy is a holistic system, meaning that naturopathic doctors (N.D.s) strive to find the cause of disease by understanding the patient as a totality of body, mind, and spirit. Most N.D.s use a wide variety of therapies and techniques (such as nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and acupuncture).
There are two areas of focus in naturopathy: one is supporting the body's own healing abilities, and the other is empowering individuals to make lifestyle changes necessary for the best possible health. While N.D.s treat both short bouts of illness and chronic conditions, their emphasis is on prevention of disease and patient education.
Some of the more common treatments used by a naturopath include:

  • Nutritional counseling
  • Herbal medicine
  • Homeopathic medicine
  • Acupuncture
  • Hydrotherapy (Water therapy) -- Therapies in this category include drinking natural spring water, taking baths, and exercising in water, all of which are thought to stimulate and support healing and strengthen the immune system.
  • Physical Medicine -- This natural approach to healing involves using touch, hot and cold compresses, electric currents, and sound waves to manipulate the muscles, bones, and spine.
  • Detoxification -- This therapy removes toxins from the body by using techniques such as fasting, enemas, and drinking water in large amounts.
  • Spirituality -- Personal spiritual development is encouraged as an important part of an overall health program.
  • Lifestyle and Psychological Counseling -- An N.D. may use hypnosis, guided imagery, or other counseling methods as part of a treatment plan.
